Let it Burn
The sunlight creeping through the blinds, waking Dave from light sleep. Head aching, breath sour, he slowly lifts his head from the floor. Dave checks his phone and to no surprise, it's dead. Frustratedly, Dave get's up and tries to look for a charger so he can charge his dead phone and so he can call someone to come and pick him up. Walking around feeling like a haunted mound, he stumbles upon a girl who's passed out. He shakes her awake and says "Hey, are you okay?" she responds with " Wait who are you?" "Oh sorry my name is Dave, what's your name?" he replies "my name is Linda" Linda says. Dave reaches for his wallet in his back pocket. As he opens his wallet to get money for her to buy a bottle of water, he realises its empty. Money, gift cards, credit cards, licence, ID, everything. Its all gone, after a long night of betting on games and playing poker. Dave's drunken promises and sacrifices are rapidly catching up to him while he is sober. "I'm going to try and find some of my stuff in here" Dave tells Linda. "Oh alright I'm going to try and get rid of this killer of a headache" she replies. "Wait before I go, can I use your phone really quick? Dave says. "Yeah sure" Linda replies, she hands Dave her phone and he takes no time to dial his brothers number. After calling his brother to pick him up, he asks Linda "hey can you write your number down on a piece of paper so we can keep in touch after I leave?" "Sure! I don't see why not." she replies. Linda writes down her number and gives it to Dave, he folds it up and puts it in his pocket.
13 Hours before. Dave walks into the club with his five friends Luke, Damien, Cade, John, and Jimmy. They all order drinks but Dave orders three. Jimmy tells Dave "Slow down on the drinks Dave, we'll be here all night anyways." "I don't care Jimmy, I'm my own person. You can not boss me around." Dave responds, Jimmy replies with " What ever man do what you want, just know I'm not taking you home later, you can find your own way home." "Fine I will, I didn't want to get into your half broken car anyways you bum!" Dave says. "Oh shut up Dave, no body wants to hear your dumb opinions, plus my car is perfectly fine there is nothing wrong with my car. But there is definitely something wrong with your head." Jimmy replies. "Oh bugger off Jimmy, every one knows that your car is a piece of crap, it barely works. Maybe go get your car fixed, then talk to me." Dave says, Jimmy responds with " At least I didn't gamble away my car, at least I'm responsible when I drink and at least I know when enough is enough." " Oh shut up, I'm so sick of you Jimmy
While driving down highway g59, Dave looks out the window thinking about the night before. He can't believe what he did. He has lost everything in his wallet. He deeply regrets going out, but at the same time he's happy he did because he met Linda. Dave thinks to himself "That Linda chick was really nice, though I didn't make a good first impression I think I want to take this further with her." Dave can't stop thinking about Linda no matter what he does. He try's to distract himself by talking to his brother Brock, but he ends up talking about Linda the whole time.
